About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Manhattan at 222 Lexington Ave, Murray Hill Diner is a quintessential American diner experience that effortlessly combines classic comfort food with a welcoming, bustling atmosphere. This family-friendly restaurant delights diners with a diverse menu that spans hearty breakfast staples, savory sandwiches, and indulgent specialties that beckon both locals and visitors alike.

Stepping inside Murray Hill Diner, you're greeted by the warm hum of lively conversation and the inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee mixed with sizzling eggs and grilled bacon. The ambience is quintessentially diner—friendly, bustling, and unpretentious—making it an ideal spot for a casual meal that feels like a true New York tradition.

The culinary offerings here are robust and thoughtfully curated. Start your day with their signature Murray Hill Omelette – fluffy and rich, generously stuffed with cheddar cheese and your choice of fresh sautéed fillings, creating layers of creamy, savory satisfaction in every bite. For a classic taste of Jewish deli heritage, the Pastrami Sandwich and Corned Beef Hash bring tender, perfectly seasoned meats paired with crisp bread and just the right amount of tangy mustard or Swiss cheese.

If you're craving something lighter yet equally comforting, the Matzoh Ball Soup and Chicken Noodle Soup offer nourishing, soul-warming options, featuring rich broths and tender morsels that echo comforting home-cooked meals. Their breakfast waffles are a sweet highlight, generously topped with fresh strawberries, bananas, blueberries, or a refreshing mixed fruit salad that bursts with natural sweetness and color.

Sandwich lovers will feel right at home with classics such as the stacked Club Sandwich or the hearty Club Turkey Triple Decker—each layered with fresh, premium ingredients that perfectly balance texture and flavor. The hot heroes—like the Eggplant Parmigiana or the Fried Shrimp Parmigiana Hero—bring an Italian-American flair with crispy, golden-browned coatings and melted cheeses that ooze invitingly.

One cannot overlook the well-crafted coffee bar here. Whether you're warming up with a robust Espresso or savoring the creamy froth of an Iced Cappuccino, every cup is thoughtfully prepared. Their own blends of coffee and tea showcase a commitment to quality that complements the diner’s hearty menu.

Visitors consistently praise the attentive, friendly staff, whose warm service creates a genuine sense of welcome amid the lively diner setting. Hector, in particular, has been singled out by regulars for his exceptional care and timely service, elevating the dining experience beyond just the food. Many appreciate the fair pricing for Manhattan standards, especially given the generous portions and fresh ingredients.

Whether you drop in for a quick, satisfying breakfast, a cozy lunch, or a late-night bite, Murray Hill Diner feels like a trusted neighborhood staple that delivers delicious, comforting dishes with heartfelt hospitality. It's the kind of place that invites you back, time and again, for both classic favorites and the kind of honest, satisfying food that feels like a warm embrace on a busy New York day.

On Friday 5 December 25, I accompanied my Friend on an appointment around East 34th St. After the appointment I suggested to My Friend that we stop by a Diner, that I had noticed on my way to her Medical Office. Murray Hill Diner Was Most Excellent. I really enjoyed the staff there, everyone was so warm and friendly.,so courteous. For my breakfast I ordered an Omelet with Cheddar Cheese, Sauteed Onions, and turkey sausage links on the side ,with a side order of home fries. The food was so delicious, The Cheese Omelette was a hugh portion, was so delicious. As being that I was so full, I decided to take the leftovers home. I had the leftovers the very next day, it was so delicious. Our server , Hector was so helpful,so courteous and so friendly and was professional in doing his job .....He is a hard working Latino who is from Mexico, and had such a wonderful personality. I must say that having had him As our Server ,Made our Dining Experience So Special, made my friend Vivian and I come to the conclusion that we must go back to Murray Hill Diner whenever we are in the area of Murray Hill.... I highly recommend this Diner to all,you definitely will not be disappointed., as a matter of fact, You are in for a treat , especially if Hector is your server.

This is the epitome of a typical American diner. Our brunch food was great. The service could have been better. To their defense, it was a busy mid morning.

Food: 5/5 — Everything was fresh and cooked just how I asked. Pancakes fluffy, eggs done right, and coffee always refilled hot. Service: 5/5 — The staff are consistently friendly and attentive without hovering. They really make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. Value: 5/5 — Prices are fair for Manhattan, especially considering the portions and quality. Great bang for your buck. Atmosphere: 4.5/5 — Old-school diner charm with that classic NYC feel. Comfortable booths, warm lighting, and a relaxed pace. Location: 5/5 — Super convenient spot near the Empire State Building — perfect for breakfast before sightseeing or a quick bite afterward. Overall: 4.8/5 — A true neighborhood gem. No frills, just great food, good prices, and kind people. Exactly what a diner should be.

I love this diner! I've been coming here for a few years, and I really love that they have a huge menu with so many options. They have a bit of everything. Breakfast, sandwiches, waffles, pancakes, salads, burgers, soups, Greek and Italian dishes... My favorites are the Waffles (starting at $12), the thick chocolate shake ($9), the fresh lemonade ($5), and the pulled pork sandwich ($18). The servers are all really nice!

A great place! There's nothing like a New York diner. The service here is excellent; they're friendly and so attentive. Food tasted great and came out quickly. A quiet spot where you can have a nice conversation without having to yell over one another. Prices were a little on the high side, but you get what you pay for and this was well worth it! Highly recommend next time you're in the area!
